Our self-concept, also called self-construction, our self-identity, our self-perspective or self-structure is an assembling of principles about ourselves. We must know these things that we not deceive ourselves.

The question is not whether we love God or love others, but whether God is loved as God—without rival, without displacement, without substitution—so that every other love finds its proper place beneath Him rather than beside Him.
