Divine revelation has always possessed an appointed end established within the wisdom of God Himself. Every command seeks obedience. Every promise seeks faith. Every warning seeks repentance. Every prophecy seeks watchfulness. Every doctrine seeks understanding that matures into holiness.
The faith of Abel, who offered a better sacrifice. The perseverance of Noah, who endured ridicule yet prepared an ark by faith. The obedience of Abraham, who left all for a promise unseen. The wrestling of Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel when he prevailed with God. The steadfastness of Daniel, who would rather face lions than compromise.
The binding of Satan, as described in Revelation, marks the beginning of this period. An angel descends, lays hold upon the adversary, and confines him to the bottomless pit so that he may deceive the nations no more until the thousand years are fulfilled.
